In spring, crucian carp likes to move around the corners

As spring comes, crucian carp are ready to start laying eggs. They need to lay eggs on aquatic plants, so they will come to shallow water.

For safety, they will find small waters with obstacles such as aquatic plants, branches, stone pestles, etc. In such places, big fish are inconvenient to come, and there are a large number of obstacles for them to hide.

Therefore, in the corners of some small ditches and ponds, it looks full of weeds and dead branches, and it is messy and I don’t know how to hook it. If the hook is accidentally hung onto an obstacle.

But crucian carp likes to live under these obstacles. Even if the water depth is only forty or fifty centimeters, you can see groups of crucian carp moving through the obstacles.

Therefore, when fishing for crucian carp in spring, you cannot find vast waters such as big rivers. You should find fishing spots at the corners of rivers and reservoirs.

Fishing in the river, find upstream and tributaries

In spring, crucian carp has the habit of going upstream, so when fishing, you should look for the upstream of the river. However, when a river starts from its origin, where is it considered an upstream?

Usually, a large river has a water blocking dam, and crucian carp will flow upwards and cannot cross it when they reach the dam, and they will gather under the dam.

In spring, the water level of the river dropped, and many riverbeds were exposed under the dams of many rivers. Only close to the dams, there were still water in the deep pits impacted by the water flow, so crucian carp would gather in the ponds under the dam. At noon, you could see many crucian carp that wanted to jump over the dam.

If there is no dam, you need to find tributaries with small area and shallow water.

You can find a place where the tributaries and the main river channel meet. This place is usually from narrow to wide. Crucian carp will swim against the current and make nests at the intersection, making it easy to catch passing fish.

In addition, you can also walk up the tributary to find places where the river channel is relatively narrow, with shallows and aquatic plants. This kind of place is most suitable for crucian carp to lay eggs.

Fishing in the reservoir, looking for bays and shoals

If you are fishing in a large reservoir, you must find a relatively shallow bay.

The bay is where the water bank is recessed, with land on both sides, and only one direction is connected to the reservoir, which is equivalent to a local small water area. It would be even better if there were water plants or other obstacles in the bay.

It is best to use a long rod when fishing in the bay, and choose a location at the junction with the large water surface to make a nest.

If you are fishing in a small reservoir, you have to look for shallows. It is better to have aquatic plants, but it doesn’t matter if there is no water plants. As long as the shallow area is large enough and the bottom of the water is relatively flat, it is easy to catch fish in mid-spring.

If the shoal you are looking for is not aquatic or sparse, then you should still use a long rod to fish the shoal away from the shore. This is because there is no obstacle to cover, and the fish will feel danger in shallow water, and they will not easily approach the shore.

In spring, crucian carp eats bait very strongly, even if the bait tastes and condition are worse, the fishing position has the greatest impact.

Therefore, anglers should not follow the crowd. It is best to find small waters with few people and remote areas, or corners on the surface of large waters. These places are more likely to catch crucian carp.
